From Carbon Footprint to Verified Climate Action
Addressing climate change requires credible, measurable and independently verifiable action. Today, organizations are expected to quantify their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, implement effective emission reduction strategies and, depending on their climate objectives and level of maturity, either achieve Carbon Neutrality or compensate their residual emissions through recognized carbon compensation mechanisms.
To support this journey, EUROCERT has developed the ClimaNeutral® and ClimaBalanced® programmes, offering two distinct yet complementary approaches for the independent validation and verification of climate claims in accordance with ISO/IEC 17029.
ClimaNeutral® is based on the requirements of ISO 14068-1:2023 and supports the achievement and demonstration of Carbon Neutrality, enabling organizations to progress towards Net Zero through a structured approach that combines greenhouse gas emission reductions with the compensation of residual emissions.
ClimaBalanced® is EUROCERT's proprietary programme for the validation and verification of Carbon Compensation Claims. The programme can be applied to organizations, products, services, buildings and events, providing a reliable and transparent framework for demonstrating that greenhouse gas emissions have been compensated, without making a Carbon Neutrality claim under ISO 14068-1.
